John Thomson (The Fast Show, Coronation Street, Cold Feet) will play Sergeant Cuff, while Sarah Hadland (Miranda, The Job Lot) will play the pious bugger Miss Clack.
They will be joined by a group of rising stars in the rest of the affair, including Joshua Silver as Franklin Blake, Terenia Edwards as Rachel Verinder, Sophie Ward, Stewart Clarke, Leo Wringer and David Calder.
Moonstone is often hailed as the first true detective story and sees “charismatic adventurer” Franklin Blake attempting to solve the mystery of the missing moonstone – and win back his true love Rachel Verinder in the meantime.
“The Moonstone is a classic novel, and it has all the qualities of classic television,” said John Thomson. “I’ve worked on a wonderful variety of projects over the years, but I’ve secretly always wanted to be a part of a big BBC One costume drama. The Moonstone is exactly that and I’m incredibly excited to be part of it. participate.”
Sarah Hadland is equally thrilled to play Miss Drusilla Clack, who she says “considers herself a devout Christian and” does better, “always thinking of others… with Godfrey Ablewhite… I’m absolutely thrilled to be a part of this production of the BBC – wear the hood! “
