CUNA’s Donovan to Speak at World Board Financial Inclusion Webinar | 2021-09-16

Ryan Donovan, Chief Advocacy Officer for CUNA, will be one of several speakers at the World Council of Credit Unions’ International Advocacy webinar, scheduled for September 29 at 9 a.m. ET. Registration is now open for the webinar titled “Credit Unions and the G20: The Push for Financial Inclusion”.

The international credit union movement urges the G20 to focus on the importance of proportionality as a means of increasing financial inclusion across the world.

Proper implementation of proportionality in regulations for smaller cooperative deposit-taking institutions, such as credit unions, can significantly reduce inequalities and promote inclusive growth.

Proportionality can also, if applied appropriately, significantly advance the G20 goals of promoting financial inclusion by encouraging responsible finance through increased access to affordable financial services.

This webinar will highlight the efforts of the international credit union movement to encourage the G20 to focus more attention on how cooperative financial institutions can increase financial inclusion around the world.

The full list of speakers is:

  • Elissa McCarter LaBorde, President / CEO, World Council of Credit Unions
  • Martha Durdin, President and CEO, Canadian Association of Credit Unions, Board of Directors of the World Council
  • Michael Lawrence, CEO, Customer Owned Banking Association (COBA – Australia), Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the World Board
  • Ryan Donovan, CUNA Advocacy Chief
