Enid Blyton’s Noddy Relaunches As Hipster Detective

Noddy, Detective Toyland – produced by DreamWorks and Gaumont – sees Enid Blyton’s wooden hero seemingly abandon his old cab service. Instead, he’ll use his iconic red and yellow car to solve mysteries in Toyland.

He’s also wearing a whole new outfit: the red button-down cardigan and foppish yellow scarf are now replaced by a mesh turtleneck sweater.

A few recognizable old friends remain, however: Bumpy the dog accompanies Noddy on his adventures, and Big Ears is back too. There’s no mention of PC Plod – maybe Detective Noddy took his job.

Louis Ashbourne Serkis – son of Andy Serkis, aka the voice of Gollum – is the voice of Noddy, his first lead role.

Clair Robinson, Acting Head of Children at Channel 5, said: “Noddy is a true British icon and we are delighted to include Noddy, Toyland Detective, in the Milkshake program. Is sure to be a hit with our young audience. “

Catch the new look Noddy, Detective Toyland on Channel 5’s Milkshake at 7:05 am, weekday mornings starting Monday, April 18.
