Flintshire Sign Company Grows After Joining Welsh Leadership Program

A leading North Wales sign maker is encouraging other businesses to enroll in a grassroots management program that has had a positive impact on staff development and growth.

Chris Whitehouse, Award Winning Project Director isGroup, was among those who completed the 20Twenty Business program and says the focus on strategy and finance has been particularly helpful in his day-to-day operations.

The Flint-based company employs 30 people and has worked alongside some of the UK’s largest organizations to create unique signage solutions, from the public sector and universities to football clubs, including Liverpool FC and the Channel Hard Rock Café.

20Twenty is built on modules designed to support personal development, sales, leadership, strategy and more, with BBC Business Doctor Paul Thomas, Penderyn Distillery Boss Stephen Davies and Professor Brian Morgan of Cardiff Metropolitan University among previous speakers.

Reflecting on areas that have proven invaluable in helping him grow professionally, Chris, who has completed levels 5-7, said:

“I have found the finance module to be very beneficial, as it allows me to forecast and plan for the future and act on changes when necessary.

“I would recommend anyone to take this course to further their knowledge of the industry. “

Colleague and account manager Jac Lloyd-Jones has also completed Level 4 of the Wrexham-based course.

He added:

“It was really interesting and built on the marketing and sales experience that I already have after 12 years in the company.

“I have acquired a lot of new skills and I am gaining confidence, which has had an impact on my professional life.

20Twenty Project Manager Gwenllian Owen welcomed the feedback and said the modules are designed in partnership with industry and participating companies to find out what is relevant to them and where they want to improve to get the best results.

“Receiving such a positive response from the isGroup team is extremely encouraging and essential to the way we deliver these programs,” said Gwenllian. “I am delighted that they have already seen the benefits and congratulate them on their continued success.

Professor Morgan and Mr Davies to headline 20Twenty and ION Leadership North Wales is all about business conference at Venue Cymru in Llandudno on November 29.

Benjamin Owen, Managing Director of Mochdre Gym and Health Company Fast Way to Fitness, Karen Warren of KW Inner Strength and Liam and Ellis Barrie, owners of Marram Grass Restaurant on Anglesey, will also be in attendance.

Gwenllian added:

“We look forward to seeing isGroup and many other companies we collaborate with at the next conference. It will be a brilliant event, showcasing some of the biggest names in business in Wales. “

By targeting businesses in Flintshire, Powys and Wrexham, part of 20Twenty’s success comes down to the financial support that businesses receive; Up to 70% of the cost comes from the European Social Fund via the Welsh government. The next course takes place from December 7th in Wrexham.
