On June 10, 2020 at approximately 8:54 a.m. Camaran M. Schelinski (44), from Maunaloa, was arrested for attempted second degree murder and first degree criminal property damage.
On June 9, 2020 at around 4:30 p.m., the male victim was walking on the shoulder of the Maunaloa highway, in the kilometer 5 area, after his mountain bike ran out of gas. The victim recognized a sedan traveling on the Maunaloa highway, operated by Schelinski. As Schelinski walked past the victim, they exchanged middle finger gestures.
Schelinski backed up his vehicle at high speed, on the grassy shoulder towards the victim, who was able to get out of the way. Schelinski made several attempts to run over the victim. During the altercation, Schelinski struck the victim’s off-road motorcycle, causing damage.
Schelinski fled the area before the police arrived. The victim suffered no injuries.
On June 10, 2020 at approximately 8:54 a.m., Schelinski was located in Maunaloa and arrested. He is still in custody, the charges are pending, the investigation is ongoing.
