TORONTO, September 26, 2022 /CNW/ – Today, the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) announced the launch of RBC ION Visa and RBC ION+ Visa, two new credit cards that allow Canadians to earn Avion points faster on common spending categories, including gas and groceries, as well as electric vehicle charging, daily transit, streaming services, and more. Powered by Avion Rewards – from Canada the largest owner loyalty program RBC ION and ION+ Visa cardholders will also become Premium aircraft members, having access to cashback and exclusive offers.

More everyday value with no annual fee and low annual fee cards

RBC ION and ION+ Visa cardholders will enjoy the following benefits:

RBC ION Visa

  • Cardholders will earn 1.5x Voyages points for every $1 spent on:
    • Grocery
    • Groceries (daily transit and carpooling), gas and EV recharging
    • Streaming, digital games and subscriptions
  • Cardholders will earn one Voyages point for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
  • New cardholders will receive 6,000 welcome points if they apply for this card before November 30, 2022and are approved.
  • This is a credit card with no annual fee.

RBC ION+ Visa

  • Cardholders will earn 3x the Voyages Points for every $1 spent on:
    • Grocery, catering and food delivery
    • Groceries (daily transit and carpooling), gas and EV recharging
    • Streaming, digital games and subscriptions
  • Cardholders will earn one Voyages point for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
  • New cardholders will receive 12,000 welcome points if they apply for this card before November 30, 2022and are approved.
  • The card will have a low monthly fee of $4 per month (annual fee of $48), which will be refunded if the cardholder also has an eligible RBC banking account.

In addition to these benefits, when RBC ION or ION+ Visa cardholders link their Petro-Points card to their RBC ION or ION+ Visa credit card, they’ll save 3¢/L every time they fill up with gas at Petro-Canada outlets. They’ll also earn 20% more Avion and Petro-Points than they normally earn on qualifying purchases at retail Petro-Canada locations when they use their linked RBC ION or ION+ Visa credit card.
