The New York Credit Union Association – Long Island Chapter, including Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union, recently presented a check for $ 30,000 to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, representing what would normally be the amount raised by this year’s golf outing. group.

For the past 28 years, Long Island Credit Unions have hosted a charity golf outing to raise funds for nonprofits in Nassau and Suffolk counties. In 2020, the 29th annual Long Island credit union golf outing was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the credit unions appealed to annual donors and kept their pledge to the Pediatric Diabetes Program at Cohen Children’s Medical Center with a donation comparable to previous years.

“The pandemic was not going to stop us from supporting the important work of the Pediatric Diabetes Program at Cohen Children’s Medical Center,” said Joe Tedesco, OFFCU President and CEO. “We and our colleagues at Long Island credit unions are proud to have been able to continue this tradition of supporting children and families facing such an immense challenge. “
