Redwood Credit Union’s annual Shred-a-Thon returns to Ukiah on July 24 – The Ukiah Daily Journal


Redwood Credit Union (RCU) invites the Mendocino County community to participate in its free annual document shredding event on Saturday, July 24, 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the RCU branch at 195 S. Orchard Ave. to Ukiah.

The popular annual Shred-a-Thon will feature free document shredding provided by Shred-It and electronic waste (e-waste) collection by Conservation Corps North Bay.

“We really missed seeing our community last year due to the pandemic and we are delighted to welcome people back and help them safely dispose of their sensitive electronic documents and devices,” said Todd Andrus, Experience Manager at the Ukiah Branch of Redwood Credit Union. “Shredding old financial and other confidential documents is one of the best things people can do to protect themselves against identity theft.”

Participants can bring up to three standard-size boxes (15 “x12” x10 “) of confidential documents to shred, such as old financial statements, canceled checks and credit card offers. Conservation Corps North Bay will also be on duty. on-site to collect and recycle electronic waste such as old computers, printers, cell phones and personal electronics.

Non-perishable food and monetary donations will be accepted at the event to benefit the Redwood Empire Food Bank, a Northern California nonprofit committed to making adequate food available and accessible to those in need.
