TD Cash 2021 credit card review – Forbes Advisor

The TD Cash Credit Card is designed to appeal to anyone who needs to eat. Whether most of your meal is cooked at home or by someone else, this card offers above-average rewards for most of the ways you can buy food. For an annual fee of $ 0, you’ll earn 3% cash back on meals, including take out and delivery, 2% on groceries, and 1% on all other purchases.

These rewards may sound pretty appetizing for anyone who spends a good chunk of their money on food, but there are a few things about this card that may make you want to choose it as an option. For starters, supermarkets and warehouse clubs don’t qualify for the 2% grocery rewards, so if that’s where you prefer to fill your cart, this card is probably a nasty option.

Another potential catch is that only residents of states where TD Ameritrade has a branch can apply for the card. Residents of Maine, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wyoming are therefore out of luck.

But perhaps the biggest problem with this card is that there is a competing card, the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards credit card, which offers even more value. The SavorOne also has no annual fee and earns the same 3% cash back on meals, 2% at grocery stores, and 1% on all other purchases, but also earns unlimited 3% cash back on entertainment, a category rarely eligible for high payouts. Once you factor in that extra category, it becomes clear that the SavorOne is a more rewarding option.
